Bomb threats force flights to divert across Europe for second time this week
PauseandPonderTV · Thu, 5 Nov 2026A Dublin–Rome plane was escorted by French fighter jets, and a Ryanair flight to Sofia was sent to Plovdiv.
A string of bomb threats against passenger planes has disrupted flights across Europe on Thursday, two days after a similar wave of alerts.
A plane flying from Dublin to Rome, which flight-tracking websites identified as an Aer Lingus aircraft, was escorted by French military jets and diverted to Evreux airfield, west of Paris. The French air force said it scrambled planes as soon as it learned of the threat, and the Prime Minister's office said it was following the situation.
In Bulgaria, authorities said three Ryanair flights heading for Sofia were targeted. Two, from Copenhagen and Madrid, landed in Sofia as planned, while one from London was diverted to Plovdiv.
On Tuesday, around 10 flights in Europe were hit by similar threats, which briefly shut an airport in Warsaw and led Italy to send up air force jets near Rome. The UK government described those alerts as malicious hoaxes.
There were no immediate reports of anything dangerous being found on board.
