Favour Ayuba, the Plateau State University (PLASU) student abducted near the campus in Bokkos last weekend, has been freed.
The 100-level student was seized on the night of Saturday, 31 October, from a neighbourhood outside the campus where many students live. Another person was shot during the attack.
The university's acting spokesman, Masara Kim, said she was released on Sunday, 1 November, after a joint operation by the school and security agencies. According to the university, her captors abandoned her and fled as the security team moved towards their hideout. Security sources said troops of Operation Enduring Peace were told of her release that evening.
It is not known whether a ransom was paid, who carried out the kidnapping, or whether anyone has been arrested. There was no update on the condition of the person who was shot.
PLASU said earlier that it was the second attack in the area in four weeks.
