Senator Ned Nwoko has asked fans, bloggers and social media users to give his estranged wife, actress Regina Daniels, room to recover, after a wave of false stories about her online.
In a statement on Instagram, Nwoko said he was alarmed by fake reports claiming she had died, as well as misleading and hurtful posts about her private life.
He said his appeal was also for the sake of their children, who deserved to see their mother supported rather than attacked.
Nwoko warned that anyone spreading false claims about Daniels could face legal action, and said his team was keeping records of such posts.
The couple's marriage has been under strain, with both sides drawing heavy attention online in recent months.
