PauseandPonderTV · Sat, 31 Oct 2026At a rally in Bayelsa, the NDC candidate also pledged free basic education and 10,000MW of power.
Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), says that if he becomes president he will personally head into the forest to free kidnap victims, above all schoolchildren.
He made the promise at a campaign rally in Bayelsa State on Friday, 30 October, adding that his government would have no tolerance for abductions.
Obi linked insecurity to the state of the country's highways, pointing to his own recent road journeys across several states as evidence that roads need far better protection.
He criticised President Tinubu for never visiting Bayelsa, one of the country's main oil-producing states, and for the amount of time he spends abroad.
Obi repeated his promises to fight corruption and be open about public spending, to make basic education free in partnership with the states, and to raise electricity supply to at least 10,000 megawatts. He put current supply at about 4,000 megawatts.
NDC national leader Senator Seriake Dickson also addressed the crowd, urging Nigerians to take part in the 2027 elections and guard their votes.
