A building owned by the Saudi oil giant Aramco in Riyadh's King Abdullah Financial District was damaged early on Sunday after loud explosions were heard across the Saudi capital.

Video verified by CNN showed blown-out windows and damage to the building's upper floors. Saudi state media, quoting an Energy Ministry source, said the building had been the target of an attempted attack and that falling debris caused minor damage. Authorities said no one was hurt.

The Saudi-led coalition said Yemen's Houthi rebels fired two ballistic missiles at Riyadh, and that air defences shot both down. It said two cruise missiles were also destroyed over Riyadh and the south of the country. The Houthis had not claimed the attack at the time of publishing.

Fighting between Saudi Arabia and the Iran-backed Houthis resumed in July, ending a truce that had largely held since 2022. The Houthis have since fired missiles and drones at several Saudi targets, and say they will keep going while Saudi air strikes and the blockade of Yemen continue. Last month, 13 people were killed when a missile hit Riyadh's international airport.

A Houthi-run health ministry said on Saturday that Saudi air strikes near Sanaa had killed at least 33 people.
