British comedian and actor Russell Brand has been convicted of one count of rape and three counts of sexual assault by a jury at Southwark Crown Court in London.
The jury found him not guilty of two further rape charges and one charge of attempted indecent assault.
Six women gave evidence during the trial. The offences took place between 1999 and 2009. The women did not know each other, and came forward to police after a television documentary and newspaper reports in 2023.
Brand had denied all the allegations, saying the encounters were consensual or that the claims were made up.
He was taken into custody after the verdict. Judge Joel Bennathan will pass sentence on Monday, and Brand is expected to face a long prison term.
