Vice President Kashim Shettima has told an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in Lafia that the Tinubu government is building infrastructure to turn Nigeria's regions into centres of economic growth.
Speaking at the party's presidential campaign stop in Nasarawa on Wednesday, Shettima listed the planned Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe–Biu–Maiduguri superhighway, alongside the Lagos–Calabar coastal road and the Sokoto–Badagry superhighway, as projects meant to link farms and factories to markets.
He said President Tinubu had approved turning the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, into a federal university of mining, engineering and technology, and pointed to a new lithium processing plant in the state. He admitted that the government's economic reforms had caused short-term hardship, but said they had steadied public finances.
House of Representatives Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and Imo Governor Hope Uzodimma also spoke, urging support for Tinubu and the party's governorship candidate, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada.
Shettima urged supporters to avoid violence during the campaign. The claims were made at a party event and come from a statement issued by his office.
