A man seen swinging a machete in video footage of last week's attack on Omoyele Sowore and his campaign team in Ado-Ekiti has been photographed at an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in Ekiti State, according to SaharaReporters.

The news site, which Sowore founded, published a photo from the rally with a man marked by an arrow, placed next to a still from the attack video. It describes the man as an executive of the City Boy Movement (CBM), a group that campaigns for President Bola Tinubu's re-election, and says he appeared at the rally only days after the violence.

PauseandPonderTV has not been able to confirm that the two photos show the same person, or his role in the CBM. Police have not publicly named him as a suspect, and neither he, the City Boy Movement nor the APC had responded to the claims at the time of publishing. The allegations have not been proven.

Sowore, the African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, his brother and members of his team were attacked at a restaurant in Ado-Ekiti on 30 October. The video, which Sowore shared, shows a man in a green T-shirt and white cap raising a machete during the attack.

The AAC has linked members of the CBM to the attack and is demanding an independent investigation of everyone seen in the videos and photos, whatever their political connections, as well as the release of CCTV footage from the restaurant and protection for witnesses.

Police say 11 suspects have been arrested, but Sowore has dismissed the arrests as a cover-up, insisting that those who carried out and sponsored the attack remain free. Earlier on Friday, a Facebook user warned that Sowore could be attacked again if he visits Ikorodu in Lagos.
