African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has named a man he says swung a machete at his team during the 30 October attack in Ado-Ekiti, and released a photo he says shows the same man at a pro-Tinubu campaign event this week.

In a statement on Saturday, Sowore identified the man as Ayodeji Akintade Ifeoluwa, popularly known as 'AK', and said he was seen on Thursday taking part in campaign activities for President Bola Tinubu alongside leaders of the Ekiti State chapter of the City Boy Movement (CBM), a group backing the President's re-election. He said police had not arrested the man or explained what steps they had taken.

Photo released by Sowore's camp. He says the circled man, in a City Boy Movement T-shirt, is 'AK', the man seen with a machete in the attack video. This has not been independently confirmed.

A CBM appointment list dated July 2026, published by SaharaReporters, names an 'Ijarotimi Ayodeji Akintade' as the chapter's Chief Security Officer. PauseandPonderTV could not confirm that this is the same person, or that the man in the video and the man in the rally photo are the same.

Sowore repeated a series of other accusations. He claims the Ekiti CBM leader, Kasali Oluwafemi, had prior knowledge of the attack; that Sunday Asefon, a former NANS president and Tinubu aide, mobilised and paid armed men with the help of Federal Housing Authority chief Oyetunde Ojo, the President's son-in-law; and that the CBM's state treasurer, Sola Adenijo, known as 'Solar', helped lead the attackers. He also accused the governor's chief security officer and a former police tactical squad commander of failing to protect him and of interfering with evidence.

Sowore further alleged that police removed CCTV equipment from the restaurant where the attack happened and returned it with the recordings wiped, and that phones stolen from his team were traced to the Government House in Ado-Ekiti. He gave no public evidence for these claims in the statement.

None of the people Sowore named has been charged, and none of their responses to his latest statement had been reported at the time of publishing. The Ekiti State Government has previously denied any involvement and called the claims unfounded, while the Ekiti police described the incident as an 'altercation' and later arraigned 11 people, who were granted bail. Sowore says none of them was among the main attackers.
