Captain's 89th-minute spot-kick takes Flamingos past Venezuela and into the last four
PauseandPonderTV · Mon, 2 Nov 2026Nigeria edged Venezuela 1-0 in Rabat and will face Brazil for a place in the final.
Nigeria's Flamingos are into the semi-finals of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup after a nervy 1-0 win over Venezuela in Rabat, Morocco.
With extra time looming, Venezuela gave away a foul inside their own box in the 89th minute. Captain Azeezat Oduntan stepped up and drove a low, firm penalty past goalkeeper Valeria Rebanales.
The win continues a strong run for the young Nigerians, who lost their opening group game to Poland before beating Puerto Rico, DPR Korea and then Mexico in the round of 16.
Brazil now stand between the Flamingos and a place in the final.
