PauseandPonderTV · Sat, 7 Nov 2026Kick-off in Rabat is 7.30pm Nigerian time. Japan have let in only two goals all tournament, while Nigeria's 12 goals have come from eight different players.
It is final day for Nigeria's Flamingos, who face Japan in Rabat, Morocco, tonight with the chance to become the first African team to win the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.
Kick-off is at 7.30pm Nigerian time (6.30pm in the UK). A Federal Government delegation led by the National Sports Commission chairman, Shehu Dikko, will be at the stadium, and FIFA President Gianni Infantino and CAF President Patrice Motsepe are also expected to attend.
Captain Harmony Chidi said lifting the trophy would be a joy that the country would never forget, and that reaching the final was something the players had dreamed of. Coach Akeem Busari, who said before the tournament that Nigeria came to win it, has urged his players to stay focused.
The numbers show what Nigeria are up against. Japan have conceded just two goals in the whole competition, against Kenya and North Korea, and are playing in their fourth final, having won the title in 2014. Nigeria have scored 12 goals through eight different players, and four of them have two goals each: Awawu Bashiru, Kanyinsola Yusuf, Oluwakemi Adegbuyi and Oluebube Umejiaku. Only North Korea had more attempts on goal than the Flamingos' 113.
After losing their opening match 2-1 to Poland, the Flamingos won five games in a row, beating Puerto Rico, defending champions North Korea, Mexico, Venezuela and Brazil.
PauseandPonderTV will bring you the result and reaction tonight.
