Nigeria's Flamingos will play Japan in the final of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup on Saturday, 7 November, with the chance to become the first African team to win the trophy.

The match is at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat, Morocco, and kicks off at 7.30pm local time, which is 7.30pm in Nigeria and 6.30pm in the UK. It will be shown on FIFA's official broadcast and streaming platforms.

The Flamingos have already made history. After losing their opening game 2-1 to Poland, they won five matches in a row: 2-0 against Puerto Rico, 3-1 against defending champions North Korea, 2-1 against Mexico in the round of 16, 1-0 against Venezuela in the quarter-finals and 3-1 against Brazil in the semi-final, when Awawu Bashiru scored twice. Their previous best finish was third place in India in 2022.

Japan have looked just as strong. They won all their group games without letting in a goal, then came from behind to draw with North Korea in the semi-final before winning on penalties.

Ahead of the final, Bukola Olopade, who heads the National Sports Commission (NSC), urged the players to stay focused, telling them to keep their eyes on the prize.

PauseandPonderTV will bring you the result on Saturday night.
