Police in England have launched a murder investigation after a 26-year-old man from London died following an assault in Milton Keynes town centre.

Ezekiel Williams was attacked on Midsummer Boulevard, near The Hub, shortly before 2am on Sunday, 1 November. He was taken to hospital but died the next day. A post-mortem examination carried out on Thursday gave a provisional cause of death as a head injury. Local media have described him as a non-league footballer.

Thames Valley Police's Major Crime Unit is leading the case. Two Luton men, aged 21 and 28, are being held in custody after being detained over the killing. A third man from the town, aged 30, who is suspected of helping an offender, has been freed on conditional bail. No one has been charged.

Detective Inspector Rob Underhill said officers were determined to find out exactly what happened. Police say tributes have described Mr Williams as a much-loved and respected person, and specialist officers are supporting his family.

Anyone who was in the area between 1am and 2am, especially with phone, dashcam or CCTV footage, is asked to call 101 or report online, quoting reference 43260570882.
