Russia launched another large overnight air attack on Ukraine, firing 172 drones as well as several types of missiles between Friday evening and Saturday morning, according to Ukraine's Air Force.

The Air Force said 149 drones and four missiles were shot down or jammed, but there were impacts at 24 locations. The capital region was the main target.

In Kyiv's Solomianskyi district, the blasts blew out windows of five-storey apartment blocks and damaged or set fire to a building in the grounds of a kindergarten, a truck and other buildings. Emergency services said three people were hurt, including a child. A fire also broke out at an infrastructure site in Boryspil district, outside Kyiv.

In Pavlohrad, in the Dnipropetrovsk region, drones hit apartment buildings and started fires. A 32-year-old man was taken to hospital in a moderately serious condition, and a 38-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl were also treated. In the north-eastern Sumy region, police said a 52-year-old man was killed and 13 people were affected in attacks on 19 towns and villages.

Russia has not commented on the strikes. The attacks continue as diplomatic efforts to end the war, now in its fifth year, remain stalled.
