A social media user described as a supporter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned that Omoyele Sowore could be attacked again if he goes to Ikorodu in Lagos State, barely a week after the activist and his team were assaulted in Ado-Ekiti.

The warning appeared in the comments under a Facebook post, according to a screenshot published by SaharaReporters, the news site Sowore founded. The comment was posted under the name Adeniyi Oluifa Omo-Yayi.

Written in Pidgin, it says, in part: "Make e carry himself come Ikorodu if they no go still mend am." Roughly translated, that means he should come to Ikorodu and see whether he will not be 'mended' again. In Nigerian street slang, to 'mend' someone means to beat them up.

The commenter went on to say that Sowore should drop his guard, act responsibly and stop attacking leaders, and dared him to win a seat in the National Assembly first.

SaharaReporters described the comment as a threat of a fresh attack. PauseandPonderTV could not independently confirm the identity of the account holder or any link to the APC, and no response from him, the party or the Lagos State Police Command had been reported at the time of publishing.

Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), was attacked with members of his team at a restaurant in Ado-Ekiti on 30 October. Police later said 11 suspects had been arrested, but Sowore has rejected that as a cover-up and insists the people who planned the attack are still free. The violence is one of several incidents, including attacks at rallies in Calabar and Lafia this week, that have raised concerns about safety in the run-up to the 2027 elections.
