Trump names hardline immigration adviser Stephen Miller as White House chief of staff, replacing Susie Wiles
PauseandPonderTV · Sat, 7 Nov 2026Miller, architect of Trump's mass deportation drive, takes over on Monday. Democrats, who won Congress this week, are expected to investigate him.
US President Donald Trump has appointed Stephen Miller as his new White House chief of staff, replacing Susie Wiles.
Trump made the announcement on his Truth Social platform on Friday, calling Miller one of his most trusted advisers. Miller will start on Monday. Wiles is moving to Trump's political operation, and the President thanked her for doing a great job, but no other reason was given for the change.
Miller, 41, has worked closely with Trump in both of his terms and is the main architect of his tough immigration policies, including mass deportations and border restrictions. Those policies have affected many migrants, including Africans, and were a major issue in this week's midterm elections.
The change comes days after the Democrats won control of both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Democrats are widely expected to launch investigations into Miller once they take charge in January.
The chief of staff is the most senior official in the White House, controlling who sees the President and managing his team.
