In Imo, Obi says Nigeria is sliding under Tinubu and vows to stop theft of public funds
PauseandPonderTV · Sun, 1 Nov 2026The NDC candidate promised to treat insecurity as a national emergency if elected.
Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has accused President Bola Tinubu's government of failing on almost every front.
At a town hall meeting in Imo State, Obi pointed to insecurity and the misuse of public money as the country's biggest problems. He said many Nigerians now live in fear because the government is not protecting lives and property.
He described the stealing of public funds as the root of the country's troubles and said it would have no place in his government. He also said the President no longer seemed to have the energy the job needs.
Obi promised that, if elected, he and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, would bring the country together and treat insecurity as a national emergency.
The Presidency and the governing APC had not responded to his remarks by Sunday morning. The comments came a day after Obi told a rally in Bayelsa that he would personally lead rescue efforts if schoolchildren were kidnapped.
